So, hands up who has had penpals in the past? Keep those hands up if they dwindled off after a few letters? Annoying, isn't it?! Like the best of you, I have had that happen too - I also had lots of penpals as a teenager, but as I got older (eeek but it happens to us all!) they kind of dried up and I found myself on the receiving end of nothing but an endless stream of bills and junk mail! I managed to find a couple of "e-pals" and whilst emails are great fun and quick, you simply can't beat a proper, handwritten letter in the post!


I tried searching the web myself for new penpals, but there isn't really anywhere any good or that aren't dating agencies in disguise that land a subscription fee on you before you know it! Taking all this into account, I started to think I could probably make a better attempt of it myself - and so that was the start of what you now know as BIRO BUDDIES.

It's my aim to create a club for people wanting good old-fashioned penpals to exchange fun, friendly and chatty letters with - from people around the globe, hearing about their lives and interests, hopefully finding some really good new friends through letters! Sounds good? There is a small fee required to join and this varies depending on where you live - all the information is on the application form which you can download by following the links found at the top left of this page - the UK applicants one is there, and by clicking that you will discover the Non-UK one too.

Interest in the club has been fantastic, so I will process your application as soon as I can, but please allow upto 28 days to hear back from me once you have sent back the form.

NOW FOR THE BORING BIT....

I reserve the right to refuse any application I consider to be unsuitable. Any such application will be rejected and destroyed immediately with no refund of stamps given.

This is in no way a dating service or introduction agency, merely a penpal service, so if you are looking for more than just a penpal then please - I repeat politely - please DO NOT apply. We are relaunching as a strictly LADIES ONLY club in the near future, so any ladies wanting male penpals will be disappointed as I will not be having male members.

It is entirely at your own risk if you decide to meet or pursue a relationship with anyone you are given details of - but please, be careful, and if you do arrange a meet, do so in a public place and be sure to let someone, be it a family member or friend, know exactly where you are and what you are doing there. I am not responsible at all for any decision you make after receiving details of your new penpals.

You must join the club to find penpals, you will not find details of any members listed on here for their own safety - upon joining, I personally assess your membership form and will match you with penpals who are best suited to you from the answers you have supplied on your application form. You will then be sent a list with your new penpals details on and it is then down to you to contact them and introduce yourself.

You are not permitted to leave your contact details on the site in the hope that people will contact you direct - anyone found to be doing this will have their messages removed and deleted. I have received a number of complaints from members that people are just browsing in and leaving messages for them in reply to their comments asking them to be penpals - please do not do this as it goes beyond the club rules. Contact should be through snail mail upon joining and receiving your penpals details. There is no point in me working hard to provide this service if people are just going to breeze in and attempt to contact members direct by email and trying to bypass becoming a member of Biro Buddies. Sorry if this sounds abrupt and harsh but I am acting on complaints from existing members who have asked me to try and stop this happening. Any messages found to be doing this will also be removed and deleted. This also applies to messages giving contact details left in the Guest Book.
